It's Release Week!

So a lovely lady I know online has a book coming out this week. In honor of that I'm running a contest all week and through the weekend.

Demon Mistress Contest

Yasmine Galenorn's - Demon Mistress comes out June 2nd. The sixth book in the Otherworld Series, it's got my favorite of the three sisters - Menolly the vampire - in the lead. A demon is after Delilah's soul, there's a secret society bent on winning Shadow Wing's favor, and a necromancer is on the loose!

So here's the deal. I've got a copy of Night Huntress, book five in the series. I'm giving that away along with a copy of Demon Mistress. Winner will be randomly selected.

What I want from you: in order to get in the running post up telling me about your favorite heroine. Can be book, movie, comics, whatever ... as long as she's fictional. Tell us why you like her.

I also have up for grabs postcards of all SIX Otherworld books. Mention in your post if you'd like them and I'll send them your way.

K, I'll bite. ^^;

My favorite heroine from literature is probably a toss-up between Theodora from The Gate of Ivory by Doris Egan (If you like Sci-Fi and haven't read it yet, ZOMG READ IT.), and Laura Ingalls from the Little House on the Prairie series.

Theodora, because she's so strong in the midst of a whirlwind of crazy sh-t happening to her, and I TOTALLY identify with her viewpoint, sense of humor, and general mindset sooo much. *laughs*

Laura, because I grew up with her strength, sense of humor, endurance, and general grace. She was a friend when I had none; her life gave me so much respite from a troubled childhood that I still read the books to this day. I read my copies so much that they broke into pieces simply from love. I want to buy a boxed set of the books so that I have them again, because the only one I have left is These Happy Golden Years.

But you don't have to give me anything. ^^;

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She has kick ass moves, quirky one liners and hot guys following her everywhere. Aaaanddd, she has saved the world so many times!

What's not to like?

I'd love to have the postcards! ;)

Congrats! You won! :D Email me your address (details in next post) and thanks for playing!

My favorite heroine is Jane Eyre. I love her because of her inner strength and integrity. Plus she's the first heroine I fell in love with.

I have to pick just one?!

I'm going to say Kat from Jeaniene Frost's Nighthuntress series because she's smart, conflicted, tough, and I appreciate her sense of humor.

I'm going with Won-a-pa-lei whose secret name is Karana from the book Island of the Blue Dolphins. It's an oldie but who doesn't admire a chick who can make a skirt out of feathers, carve her own shelves and spearheads, and gets to hang out topless every day.

*grins* If you're going to leave an anonymous post, make sure to put your name and an email so I know who you are! Hard to win a drawing otherwise. ;)

My favorite heroine is Daisy Giordano from Dead is the New Black by Marlene Perez. I like her because she's brave and saved the cheerleading squad from the vampire. She wanted to help her mom solve the case even without knowing about her powers. I'd love to have postcards of the otherworld books.

Sorry your number didn't get picked, but if you still want postcards toss me an email. (it's in the next post) And I'll send them to you.

There are so many, how do I choose? Well, I think my absolute favorite right now would have to be Rachel Morgan from Kim Harrison's Hollows series. Of course she's a kick butt kind of girl, and yet, still she has a soft spot for the misfits. :) So, of all the heroines I love, I'd have to choose Rachel. Oh, and yes, to the postcards, if you pick me. :) Have a good one!

I like Buffy not only because she kicks a lot of demon butt but also because she makes a lot of hard choices that I don't think I could have.
